Alan has what it takes to run London. From a successful career in business, he chose to devote the past 25 years of his life to living and doing Christian work in the most deprived neighbourhood in the capital, Canning Town. He understands how poverty grips people and how crime impacts communities such as Newham, where he lives with his family.
Alan knows first-hand the experience of so many in our great capital city, where more than 1 in 10 households have to live on just £150 a week. But he also knows the experience of plenty. He believes equality, sharing and coming together is what London needs, if it's not forever to be Two Cities.
A passionate advocate for social justice and fairness for society's down-trodden, Alan has been serving London for many years. He is respected for speaking out against the ham-fisted politics of New Labour and working to empower people to stand up for what is right.
Alan Craig leads the Christian Peoples Alliance nationally. He also leads the CPA councillors on Newham Borough Council where is known for campaigning to give real hope to people. He has taken a bold Christian stand against such threats as gun and knife crime in our inner cities, the regional London casino that is planned for Newham, the Excel military arms fair, imposed regeneration, post office closures and the proposal for a 'mega-mosque' close to the site of the 2012 Olympics.
He now needs you to stand with him as he stands up for London. Unlike the other candidates, Alan has first-hand knowledge of running a major company. He knows how a successful business climate is vital to bringing London the jobs it needs.
Alan went from taking his MBA at Manchester Business School to chief executive of a multi-million pound international group of manufacturing companies, responsible for employing 2,500 people. Then, converted to Christ in his late 20s, Alan left business management, moved to the East End of London and committed himself to running an after-care home for young offenders on their release from prison. From 1995 until a few years ago, Alan was director of the Mayflower Family Centre in Canning Town, founded by Bishop David Shepherd.
With his wife Sally, stepsons Luke and Jake, and daughters Louise and Charley, Alan is dedicated to pursuing a vision for public life that is inspired by his faith in Christ.
